The Brooklyn Museum Library is being given in phases approximately 11,000 art books assembled over the course of several decades by Thea Westreich and her husband, Ethan Wagner. The impressive collection includes key works in the history of art, emphasizing modern and contemporary material. Many of the books have been received and listed in Brookmuse, the online catalogue of the Brooklyn Museum Libraries and Archives.

Westreich and Wagner are the principals in Art Advisory Services, Inc., a consulting firm specializing in Impressionist, modern and contemporary art. They also publish books by artists such as Richard Prince, Mike Kelley, Martin Kippenberger, Jan De Cock and Pablo Bronstein.

The Brooklyn Museum Libraries and Archives, a founding member of the New York Art Resources Consortium (NYARC), is a non-circulating collection of more than 300,000 volumes that serves the institution's staff and visiting public. Among its special holdings are artists' books, documentary photographs, fashion and costume sketches, rare books and manuscripts.
