By STAN PARCHIN July 25, 2009 Fra Angelico to Leonardo: Italian Renaissance Drawings at the British Museum (April 22-July 25, 2010) features some 100 fragile works on paper dating from 1400 to 1510. The images come from the London institution and the Galleria degli Uffizi in Florence. Some of the ones from Italy are making their first appearance in the United Kingdom. The exhibition emphasizes the importance of draftsmanship to 15th-century Italian artists, especially painters. Attention is paid to Leonardo da Vinci and the foundations of the High Renaissance style as seen in works by Michelangelo and Raphael. Also featured are delicate drawings by Fra Angelico, Jacopo and Gentile Bellini, Botticelli, Carpaccio, Fra Filippo Lippi, Andrea Mantegna and Andrea del Verrocchio.
